Studio Acting I&IIThe study of acting is a valuable tool to improve one's ability to communicate, create, focus, analyze, project confidence, and work with others effectively. Students individually and collaboratively explore tools and techniques to analyze dramatic material, create authentic and dimensional characters, and externalize their choices on stage. Students will have the opportunity for both public performance of existing work and the creation of original work. Topics may include Viewpoints, devised theatre, voice acting, directing, improvisation, text analysis, and character creation.
Film Studies/Film Making I&IIFilm is a medium that combines practically all others - art, photography, performance, music – and as such, we’ll be approaching it in this class holistically, from as many different directions as possible. We’ll be tackling not just the how of video production, but the why of filmmaking. Why should you tell a story through film, why even tell a story at all? Through a combination of part-technical production, part-analysis, part-theory, part-industry practicum, we’ll explore the world of film and find the corner of it that makes each of you want to tell a meaningful story. Work generated in this course counts toward fulfillment of a Senior Capstone Project.
